In April, the Sahrawi human rights activist, Elkouria Amidane, documented attacks on fellow Sahrawi students at the University in Marrakech. There are clearly some who disapprove of her actions.
Three telephone calls were made to Amidane on Saturday afternoon by an anonymous caller. The male caller was aggressive and threatening and said that if he discovered her whereabouts she would be attacked.
"You will be kidnapped and beaten if you leave your house", he said to Amidane.
The caller rang from a concealed number, and spoke with a Moroccan-Arabic dialect.
Sahrawi students in Marrakech have, throughout April, been under strong pressure from Moroccan students and the local police. A number of Sahrawi students have been injured after being attacked by Moroccan gangs who are supported by the authorities, according to Amidane.
Amidane has previously been attacked twice by the police. She visited Norway twice in 2007 and met, among others, representatives from all of the Norwegian political youth organisations
