Manu Chao flagged for Western Sahara in Oslo

The French Spanish musician Manu Chao played at a music festival in Oslo on 25 August - with the Western Sahara flag on stage.

Tens of thousands of people were gathered at a free concert in center of Oslo where Manu Chao played on 25 August 2012.

Chao also lent the microphone to the Saharawi refugee Senia Abderahman during the concert.

Media and organisers estimate the number of spectators somewhere between 40.000 and 110.000 people.

UN human rights expert decries “clampdown” on human rights defenders

Morocco must stop targeting human rights defenders and journalists standing up for human rights in Western Sahara, and allow them to work without reprisals, UN special rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, said today.
